Mykonos is a small Greek island belonging to the Cyclades archipelago, located in the waters of the Aegean Sea, between the islands of Tinos (to the northwest), Siros (to the west), Paros (to the southwest) and Naxos (to the south). Together with Delos and other smaller islands it forms the peripheral unit of Mykonos, belonging to the periphery of the South Aegean. It had a population of 10,190 in 2011. The island's capital and main city is also called Mykonos, although locally it is known as Jora (Χώρα). Mykonos is one of the most touristic islands in the Aegean and in Greece. Among its main attractions are the beaches, the nightlife and the fact that it is the closest island to Delos, one of the four main archaeological sites in Greece.
